Meet the Team – Q&A with Sheena Penkeyman

Commercial Finance - Marketing Manager

Each week we will be speaking to a member of the Amplo team, this week it’s Sheena Penkeyman, Marketing Manager at Amplo Commercial Finance.

Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m the Marketing Manager at Amplo Commercial Finance and I’m responsible for all the marketing for Commercial finance. Every day is different day to day, sometimes I will be working on email campaigns, content writing for the website and creating social media posts to pulling together marketing strategies, filming and editing videos, event planning and catching up with the team.

My background is that I started out as a Digital Marketing and Social Media Apprentice and worked for one of the largest UK insurance brokers for the past five years, managing marketing projects for 30 different branches across the UK.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Apart from working with a fantastic team, I don’t have a specific favourite part of the job due to the variety of work. There are so many different elements of marketing and different directions that you can go down and at Amplo, they’re open to new ideas and willing to try new things which is amazing.

Commercial Finance - Marketing Manager

What is the most challenging part of the job?

The most challenging part of the job is finding out what works and learning about the Commercial Finance market. It’s quite a big learning curve, trialing new campaigns and building the company’s brand awareness through different channels. However, I love a challenge and I do find this highly enjoyable.

What advice would you give your younger self?

It is okay to say ‘no’. If someone asks for a favor or to do something if it’s okay to say no if you haven’t got the time to do it or if you don’t want to do it.

Who or What is your inspiration?

My inspiration is Tina Fey. As one of my favourite comedy scriptwriters, her autobiography also explains the challenges that she faced in her life from being seen as a ‘nerd’ as a child to her bumpy journey to being a writer on Saturday Night Live and working in a male dominated industry.

If you could add one thing to the Amplo Office, what would it be?

The one thing I would add to the Amplo Office would be either bean bag working areas or one of those office chairs where you’re able to cross your legs.

What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?

Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing where the company goes in the next 12 months. I’ve only worked at the company for a few months and its grown so quickly. Everyone in the team is so ambitious, dedicated and always there to help each other; with fundamentals like that, there is no stopping them.

Also, I’m looking forward to travelling again and seeing what new marketing platforms and trends appear – I wonder what is going to be bigger than Tik Tok?
