Diversification Opportunity: Outdoor Weddings Permanent from April 2022
Outdoor civil weddings and partnerships are being legalised permanently in England and Wales.
Until last summer, non-religious ceremonies had to be held inside or in a permanent outdoor structure. However, during the pandemic, the rules were relaxed to allow more guests while social distancing measures were in place.
After overwhelming support from the public, the temporary measures are being made permanent from April.
The Government will set out its plans to legalise outdoor religious weddings in due course as this will require changes to primary legislation.
What does this exactly mean?
Couples can now have the whole ceremony outside on the venue’s grounds – providing them with greater flexibility and choice.
Before the temporary changes were introduced last summer, premises could only be approved if there were a permanently immovable structure such as a bandstand.
Investing into your outdoor space
With couples having the option to have their wedding anywhere outside, do you have an outdoor space for the wedding? With summers in England and Wales now more promising with plenty of days with the sun, your potential bride and groom could be looking for an outdoor wedding.
There is plenty to think about when it comes to outdoor weddings:
- Do you have the perfect space for the wedding however does it a bit of update such as adding a new patio or new greenery and shrubby?
- Do you have what you need to dress an outdoor space such as lights, water resistant chairs (after all, we are still prone to the rain), outdoor catering equipment and equipment and accessories for an outdoor reception
