Cashflow Finance: Energy Bill Relief Scheme Ends

In March 2023, the Government’s Energy Bill Relief Scheme comes to an end and is being replaced with the Energy Bills Discount Scheme. Businesses may need to start planning higher energy bills into their cashflow forecasts.

Key Points about the Energy Bills Discount Scheme:

  • The scheme will start on the 1st April 2023
  • It will reduce the amount of support available by discounting gas bills up to £6.97 per MWh and electricity bills up to £19.61 per MWh.
  • The scheme is available to non-domestic energy users – businesses, voluntary sector organisations and public sector organisations.
  • UK businesses that have high energy usage, like those producing glass, steel or ceramics, will receive additional support.

Additional funding to address immediate cash flow problems, such as paying a higher than usual energy bill, could be very beneficial if changes to the new scheme have an impact on your business.

Opportunity to produce your energy

With the increasing prices in energy bills, this could be an opportunity to start producing your own energy with renewable energy sources. With the added benefit of reducing your business’ carbon footprint, installing solar panels, ground heat pumps or any other renewable energy asset will pay for themselves in a few years.

Renewable energy sources can be brought with a finance facility, minimising cashflow pressures. An unsecured business loan, secured business loan or asset finance can be used to purchase your greener energy sources.

If you would like to find out more about cashflow finance or finance options for your renewable energy sources, get in touch with our team for a no-obligation discussion. Call us on 01270 443510 or complete our contact form and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
